Located on the North East Coast of Newfoundland in Notre Dame Bay, Kippen’s Ridge is a series of camps and lodges located inland and along the coastline.

 

The main lodge (Camp 1) includes executive accommodations, a guest room that sleeps eight, helicopter hangar, two bars fully equipped for live music, saunas, hot tub, games room, entertainment bar and grill and more.  

 

The camp features many original paintings by well known Canadian artists, as well as sculptures and antiques throughout the buildings.

 

The main Camp 1 is accessed by helicopter and also a support access road.  The other camps are accessed by ATV and a smaller helicopter from the base camp. 

 

Security and Safety: Gates and high fencing surround the perimeter of Camp 1 to ensure privacy and safety.  There is also a security person on site at all times.  This is a very safe and remote part of the province.

 

Visitors fly into Camp 1 using the company business jet - a Bombardier Challenger 604.  The flight time from St. John’s is approximately 20 minutes.  The aircraft lands in Gander, NL and an awaiting helicopter takes the guests into the camp (approximately 25 minutes).  

 

The captains on the Challenger are former Canadian Airforce Majors with extensive experience on the respective aircraft.  The Challenger Captain was the former chief pilot for the Canadian Prime Minister on the same aircraft type.

 

In case of emergency, an ambulance can access the camp and staff do have basic CPR and medical training.

 

Excursions and Activities: There are ATVs, Side by Sides, yachting, fishing, golf, and other excursions available - including trips to the other camps.  A host and guides are always on standby should guests wish to use.  The most popular excursion is a trip to Camp 7 where boats await to bring guests out fishing with local inshore fishermen and divers.  The catch of lobsters, cod fish, scallop or other is brought ashore to the camp for a classic Newfoundland “boil up”.  In the winter months, guests are offered snowmobiling day trips and even downhill skiing at Marble mountain, just a short helicopter ride away.

 

In Kippen’s Pond guests can swim, jet ski, knee board, waterski, or just relax in the sunshine.
